How we make DelDebt's guides and calculators
DelDebt is a debt payoff calculator and planner. This page explains what our code calculates, where the numbers come from and which texts our language model (AI) drafts.
Calculations — code, no AI
- Payoff plans, snowball and avalanche, total interest, extra payments and the calculators inside the guides are computed by software using standard amortization and interest formulas, covered by tests.
- Tips in the app are built by rules from your own numbers, without language models.
Rates and figures — from primary sources
Figures that change over time (average rates, legal limits) are stored separately from the text and checked against their primary sources before each release.
Guides
First drafts of our guides are written by our language model (AI). The text is then checked separately from writing: facts and rules against primary sources (regulators, laws, official sites), worked examples re-run in the same calculator. Sources are listed at the end of each guide, with its publication and update dates. Guides are general information, not financial or legal advice.
Images
There are no AI-generated images: page previews and charts are drawn by software.
Found a mistake?
Every guide has a “Spotted an error?” button, or write to support. We check it against the source and fix it; the guide’s update date changes.
